Optional Practical Training (OPT)
In this workshop, an ISSS advisor will go over the steps to apply for Optional Practical Training. Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a form of work authorization used by F-1 students, typically following the completion of their academic program. OPT workshops are MANDATORY for all F-1 students who will apply for OPT, and you MUST have attended the OPT workshop within 9 months of applying for OPT.
*If it has been 7-9 months since you attended a workshop ISSS will most likely ask you to retake it due to the significant changes that have recently occurred.
- All OPT workshops will be held virtually, pre-registration is not required.
- The advisor hosting the workshop will lock the meeting to new attendees after the first five minutes. You must attend the full workshop to receive attendance credit. If you leave prior to the end of the workshop you will have to attend another workshop.
