International Education Week

Join ISSP for an online workshop designed for all international students at UCSC. This session will address common questions and provide practical guidance to support your academic and personal success in the U.S.

After the workshop, students at the Silicon Valley Campus can sign up for individual advising with our on-site advisor. Walk-ins are welcome as time allows.

• Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to study abroad or participate in a domestic study away program? Join us for a dynamic virtual alumni panel where past participants of global learning programs will share their unique experiences, personal stories, and advice for making the most of your journey.
• Who should attend: students curious about study abroad or domestic study away programs, advisors, and anyone interested in global learning opportunities.
• This is your chance to ask questions, get inspired, and connect with alumni who have been where you’re headed. Don’t miss out!

• We are kicking off International Education Week with a bang at our activities fair.
• Come swing by the Namaste Lounge at C9/JRL to celebrate our campus’ global diversity with student-led activities while enjoying international treats and winning drinks from around the world.
• This session is hosted in partnership with the College 9/John R. Lewis College Student Life team.

• Come and learn about how to experience the world through enriching UCSC Global Learning programs. You have many options to engage in domestic and study abroad opportunities that can expand your understanding of new cultures, academic perspectives, languages, and global communities. 
• UCSC programs can offer the opportunity to fulfill degree requirements (major, minor, GE, and total units), participate in research or internships related to your major/minor, and financial aid is available. Highlights can include affordable living, unforgettable adventures, and the chance to make lifelong connections. Now is the time to begin planning your journey!

• Already planning to study abroad or away and wanting some expert advice on how to budget and finance your program? Look no further than our workshop with SlugCents on managing your finances to meet your global learning goals.
• This session is hosted in partnership with our friends at the SlugCents Financial Wellness Program.

• Join us for our monthly Global Cafe where we share international experiences, speak with Global Engagement staff, enjoy a cup of tea, and meet new people. 
• Open to international students and scholars, interested global learning students, and anyone interested in international experiences.

• Think you know a little (or even a lot) of random international trivia? Show us how much you know by joining us for a fun evening of international-themed trivia with your fellow UCSC community members.
• You’ll be working in small teams to answer our trivia questions.
• We will be providing light bites and prizes, so come out and show off your knowledge.

• Learn the fundamentals of reading Chinese pinyin names and practice with native speaking staff members and students from Global Engagement.
• Hosted by Chunling Hu (International Student Advisor) and Global Leaders.

• The Eternal Song, the first in a 12-film documentary series, is a cinematic journey through timeless lands and indigenous cultures. Voices from across generations and traditions invite us to witness the enduring scars of colonization on lands and peoples, and the healing pathways carried through ancestral wisdom. • Join us for a cozy Thanksgiving-themed evening of creativity and connection to end International Education Week.
• We’ll be sipping hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course!), painting seasonal designs on canvas photo frames, and watching a movie together.

• Join us for lunch and conversation about boundaries, culture, and healthy professional relationships.
• This event centers international graduate students and is a space for all UCSC graduate students to come together and have conversations about culture, communication, & professional boundaries.
